Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 26, 2026

Nobody actually enjoys reading a Privacy Policy. Most of them read like a legal textbook written specifically to put you to sleep.

This one is different.

KtDevLog’s privacy policy is written in plain English — the same way we write every tutorial on this blog. Clear, honest, and straight to the point. You’ll know exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what happens with it. No surprises. No hidden clauses.

Quick Summary: KtDevLog does not sell your personal data. We don’t build profiles on you. We do not currently use any third-party analytics tools. We show ads through Google AdSense to keep the blog free. That’s the whole picture.

Who We Are

KtDevLog is a Kotlin and Android development blog owned and operated by Md Sharif Mia.

Website: https://ktdevlog.com Contact: Available via the Contact Page

When this policy says “KtDevLog”, “we”, “us”, or “our” — it refers to Md Sharif Mia and this website. When it says “you” or “your” — that’s you, the person reading this right now.

What Information We Collect

We collect two types of information: what you give us directly, and what’s collected automatically when you browse.

Information You Give Us Directly

When you leave a comment: WordPress collects your name, email address, and website URL if you choose to enter one. Your IP address and browser user agent are also saved to help with spam detection. Your email is never shown publicly. Your name and comment appear on the post if approved.

When you contact us: If you send a message through the Contact page, we receive your name, email address, and message content. We use it solely to reply to you. We don’t add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent.

When you subscribe (if applicable): If you sign up for email updates, we collect your email to send new post notifications. You can unsubscribe any time using the link at the bottom of every email.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit KtDevLog, some basic data is collected automatically through standard web technology. This includes:

  • Your IP address (anonymized where possible)
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • Pages you visit and time spent on each
  • Referring website (where you came from)
  • General geographic location (country or city level — never precise)

This data helps us understand which articles are useful, which pages load slowly, and where we can do better. It’s never used to identify you personally.

We do not currently use any third-party analytics tools.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Here’s exactly how KtDevLog uses them:

Essential Cookies — Required for the site to work. WordPress uses session cookies to handle comment authentication and basic preferences. Disabling these may break parts of the site.

Advertising Cookies — KtDevLog displays ads through Google AdSense. Google manages its own consent, privacy messaging, and cookie preferences directly — you may see a Google-served consent prompt when you visit. These cookies serve relevant ads based on your browsing behavior and are governed entirely by Google’s own Privacy Policy. You can manage your preferences at Google’s Ad Settings.

Comment Cookies — If you leave a comment, WordPress may store your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience so you don’t have to re-enter them next time.

Most browsers let you view, manage, and delete cookies in their settings. Disabling cookies may affect how some parts of KtDevLog work.

How We Use Your Information

Here’s exactly what we use your data for — nothing more, nothing less:

  • To serve and improve the website — Basic server data helps us understand what’s working and what needs fixing
  • To respond to your messages — If you contact us, we use your email to reply
  • To moderate comments — Email addresses and IP addresses help filter spam and maintain basic community standards
  • To display relevant advertising — Google AdSense uses cookies to show ads relevant to your interests. This funds the free content on KtDevLog
  • To send post updates — Only if you’ve explicitly subscribed, and only about new content on this blog

We don’t use your data to build profiles, sell to third parties, or send unsolicited marketing of any kind.

Third-Party Services

We do not currently use any third-party analytics tools. The only third-party service active for data collection on KtDevLog is Google AdSense for advertising purposes.

KtDevLog uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:

Google AdSense Used to display advertisements on the site. Google manages all consent and privacy messaging directly with visitors. AdSense may use cookies and browsing data to serve personalized ads. → Google AdSense Privacy PolicyGoogle’s Ad Settings

WordPress.org / Hosting Provider This site runs on WordPress. Our hosting provider may log server-level data including IP addresses for security purposes.

Gravatar (Automattic) If you leave a comment, your profile image may be loaded from Gravatar based on your email address hash. → Automattic Privacy Policy

Disqus or Other Comment Systems (if applicable) If a third-party comment system is in use, it operates under its own privacy policy. We’ll update this page if that changes.

We don’t control how these third-party services handle your data. Their policies govern their own practices independently of ours.

Advertising & Google AdSense

KtDevLog is a free resource. To keep it free, the site shows ads through Google AdSense.

Here’s what you should know:

  • Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites
  • Google handles all consent management and privacy messaging directly — you may see a Google-served consent prompt when visiting this site
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google’s Ad Settings
  • You can also opt out via the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page
  • KtDevLog doesn’t control which specific ads appear — that’s managed entirely by Google’s platform
  • We never accept paid placements or sponsored content without clearly labeling it

We only monetize through advertising. We don’t accept money to positively review or recommend any product or service.

Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights over your personal data.

If You’re in the European Union (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:

  • Access — Request a copy of personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — Ask us to fix inaccurate data
  • Erasure — Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restriction — Ask us to limit how we process your data
  • Portability — Request your data in a portable format
  • Objection — Object to processing based on legitimate interests

Our lawful basis for processing is legitimate interest (site improvement) and consent (where you’ve directly provided information like comments or subscriptions). For advertising-related consent, this is handled directly by Google AdSense.

If You’re in California (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected and how it’s used
  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Opt out of the sale of personal information

We do not sell personal information. Ever.

To exercise any of these rights, reach out via the Contact page and we’ll respond within 30 days.

Data Retention

Comments: Kept as long as the post exists. Contact us anytime to have yours removed.

Contact form submissions: Kept only as long as needed to respond to your query.

Email subscribers: Kept until you unsubscribe. You can do that anytime.

Children’s Privacy

KtDevLog is a technical education blog for general audiences. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU).

If you’re a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately and we’ll remove it right away.

External Links

KtDevLog links to external websites — including official documentation like developer.android.com, kotlinlang.org, and various tools and libraries. Once you click an external link, you’re on that site’s turf and subject to their own privacy policy.

We only link to reputable, trustworthy sources — but we can’t control what those sites do with your data.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information submitted to us. The site runs over HTTPS, backend access is protected, and we keep WordPress and all plugins updated to reduce security risks.

That said, no internet transmission is 100% secure. We can’t guarantee absolute security — but we’ll always notify affected users promptly if a data breach ever occurs.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally — for example, if we add a new service, change ad providers, or if laws change.

When we do, the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will change. Significant changes will be noted on the blog. Continuing to use KtDevLog after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
